ARDA-Hawaii 19th Hole Reception Helps Non-Golfers Contribute to Good Cause

The American Resort Development of Hawaii (ARDA-Hawaii) announced today that although it has sold out this year’s golf tournament being held on Friday, September 28, 2012, non-golfers interested in supporting the timeshare industry are still welcome to participate in the event by signing up for the “19th Hole Reception.” Tickets to the reception are $25 and will include fun and games, food, access to the post-golf dinner banquet, and the chance to win stays at some of Hawaii’s top resorts.

“Even non-golfers can enjoy this event which benefits the HPU Travel Industry Management School students,” said Golf Tournament Chair Mitchell Imanaka. “It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the conclusion of the tournament, build camaraderie among all who knew Steve Hirano, and honor his contributions to the timeshare industry in Hawaii.”

Money raised benefits the Steve Hirano Memorial Scholarship Fund at Hawaii Pacific University. Scholarships are awarded annually to students in the Travel Industry Management program who are interested in pursuing a career in the timeshare industry. Hirano is remembered at this tournament for his ardent support of the timeshare industry in Hawaii.

This year, in addition to its usual charitable contributions to the scholarship fund, two ARDA-Hawaii members – The Pahio Companies and Trading Places – have also generously donated teams they purchased to the Wounded Warriors Program, so that six servicemen may golf in the tournament.

A total of 150 golfers will be playing in the tournament, which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course at the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base. The day will end with the “19th Hole Reception,” which begins at 3:00 p.m. and will feature games and prizes, and will be followed by a dinner banquet.

Participants who attend may be fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy’s famous flight demonstration squadron, who will be practicing nearby. Ticket reservations will be accepted until September 19, 2012. Those wishing to attend the “19th Hole Reception” or donate prizes to the tournament may contact Kristin Schultz at 441-6266 or email kschultz@ahfi.com for tickets or details.

ARDA-Hawaii is the local chapter of the American Resort Development Association, the national timeshare trade association. The state’s timeshare units account for 13 percent of the State’s visitor lodging inventory and thousands of jobs. Learn more about “Timeshare with Aloha” at http://bit.ly/QGgKtq
