Tickets Are Still Available

Hawaii’s ukulele virtuoso, Jake Shimabukuro, will perform live in concert on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Pacific Beach Hotel’s Grand Ballroom in Waikiki.

“When Jake is home in Hawaii, he often performs at many community type venues and mostly outdoors. There’s a lot you can miss with so many distractions around,” said Bruce Shimabukuro, Jake’s younger brother. “In my opinion, as amazing a ukulele player that Jake is already known to be, there’s a lot about him that many people in Hawaii have not yet discovered. I believe that this concert will showcase Jake at his finest. I strongly recommend this concert to anyone that’s a fan of quality music.”

As a fellow ukulele player, Bruce has had the opportunity to accompany Jake on several of his tours. Bruce says many of those performances are often in concert halls, or other indoor venues. After many years of touring and performing in those settings, Bruce says his brother has developed “a subtle quality that lets him capture his audience with the sound and silence of his ukulele,” which will be the highlight at this unique concert in Waikiki.

Concert-goers will enjoy a cocktail hour starting at 5:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., local singer and guitarist Eric Lee will open the show with Hawaiian and contemporary favorites. Following Lee, Jake will enchant listeners for one hour and 45 minutes, with an unforgettable performance of some of his most popular hits, such as “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” and some new songs as well. There will also be a special duet performance featuring both of the Shimabukuro brothers. After the concert, Jake will host an autograph session.

Tickets are $60. For reservations, call the Pacific Beach Hotel Guest Service Center at (808) 921-6190. Validated parking is available.
