The Friends of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i’s “The Mauka Makai … Voyage of Discovery” gala is set for Friday, September 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at The Waterfront at Aloha Tower Marketplace. The “¡Viva la Cancer Research” themed benefit will feature an array of specially prepared Mexican cuisine, live entertainment, and décor. It will also include an extensive silent auction and special live auction. Local philanthropists Bert and Susan Kobayashi will receive the Mauka Makai 2010 Award for their significant contributions to the progress of cancer research, treatment, and education.
