Family Law Attorney Judith A. Schevtchuk Joins Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert

Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert, a prestigious law firm celebrating 50 years of business in Honolulu, has announced that family law attorney Judith A. Schevtchuk has joined the company. With experience in both traditional family and non-traditional family law matters, Schevtchuk brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm and its clients in a rapidly evolving legal field. She is available to assist clients in dissolving their civil unions and other family arrangements whether begun in Hawaii or elsewhere in the country. She has a focus on military family law and guardianship of keiki (children) and kupuna (elderly). Schevtchuk is available to provide consultations on legal aspects of cohabitation and unmarried parenthood, as well as guardianship for special needs children, family members or others with conditions requiring sensitive arrangements.

“Judy is a well-respected local attorney known for her success in advocating mediated and cooperative settlements,” said Damon Key Vice President Michael Yoshida. “She is able to skillfully advise clients on all aspects of family law, including divorce, adoption, child custody and financial support, and relocation.”

Schevtchuk moved to Honolulu in 1989 and opened her solo family law practice in 1993. Prior to joining Damon Key, she served as a deputy prosecutor and an attorney at another Honolulu firm.

A retired Commander in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAGC) of the U.S. Naval Reserve, Schevtchuk served on active duty with the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. and with the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California. After active duty, Schevtchuk became a civilian Special Agent in what is now the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) in California and later at its headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Schevtchuk is a graduate of Indiana University’s Mauer School of Law in Bloomington.  She is an active member of the Disciplinary Board of the Hawaii Supreme Court, a member of Hawaii Women Lawyers, and the Family Law Sections of both the Hawaii State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
