Gregory W. Kugle Elected to Meritas Board of Directors

Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert, a Honolulu-based law firm, today announced that Gregory W. Kugle has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Meritas, a global alliance of business law firms. Kugle was elected to the position during Meritas’ recent annual meeting. Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert is the only Hawaii law firm that belongs to Meritas, an alliance of 175 independent law firms in 75 countries.

In his role as a board member, Kugle will be responsible for reviewing and establishing policy and setting strategy for the alliance. Kugle will also act as an organizational leader, serving as a liaison to member firms on administrative issues. He will maintain contact with members, encourage and promote cross communications, and gather feedback on Meritas initiatives. Kugle will serve a three-year term, during which time he will also serve on the Finance committee. The Meritas Board of Directors is comprised of 21 lawyers from its member firms around the world.

Kugle, a director of Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert, concentrates his practice in the area of litigation.  He works in the areas of commercial disputes and business litigation, construction, land use and real estate, antitrust, product liability and personal injury, aviation, bankruptcy, admiralty and insurance coverage.  He has litigated cases before the Hawaii District and Circuit Courts, the Hawaii Bankruptcy Court and United States District Court, and has handled appeals before the Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals, the Hawaii Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
