The Island Insurance Foundation has pledged a $25,000 donation to the Rehab Foundation to support the work being done at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific and the hospital’s “Rebuilding Rehab Hospital” $17 million capital campaign. The hospital is currently raising money for infrastructure improvements that will further improve safety and enhance patient comfort.  This state-of-the-art facility will also incorporate features that improve to patient experience and encourage the involvement of loved ones in the healing process.  In addition, new programs and advanced equipment will focus on the unique challenges of patients and better serve those with special needs.

The Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific Foundation was established solely to support the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB), its programs and patients.  Funding provides vital support for medical equipment purchases, scholarships, patient care programs and capital improvement projects all with one goal in mind: to maximize each patient’s recovery.

REHAB is a not-for-profit freestanding hospital that provides inpatient care to an average of 1,500 individuals each year. Following inpatient treatment, approximately 85% of patients are able to return to a home setting, which is well above the national average.  Over 4,000 individuals annually receive rehabilitation services at one of REHAB’s outpatient clinics located in Nuuanu and Aiea on Oahu, and Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii.   After outpatient treatment, many return to work and/or community activities with improved function.  Accredited by the Joint Commission, REHAB is the only acute-care medical rehabilitation organization servicing Hawaii and the Pacific Rim for over 50 years.

The Island Insurance Foundation was established as the charitable arm of Island Insurance, the only locally-owned property and casualty insurance carrier to have a charitable entity solely dedicated to supporting the non-profit community.  Island Insurance is Hawaii’s largest locally owned and managed P&C insurance carrier with financial strength ratings of “A” by A.M. Best and Fitch Ratings and is the only Hawaii-Based company to be recognized as one of the Top 50 property & casualty insurance companies in the nation by the Ward Group for four consecutive years.  For more information, visit its website at: www.islandinsurance.com.
